Description

Large sheet metal silhouette antique American Running horse weathervane.  In profile form depicting a running horse. It is in a long tradition of American equestrian weathervanes. Excellent early surface with brilliant, sunfire red paint. An outstanding example. These sheet metal weathervanes were often repainted.  Close inspection reveals the original layer of red paint on the tails end and legs.  This weathervane was probably repainted around the turn of the century as indicated by the rust residue on the surface.
